Mr. McCloskey attended Berks Career and Technology Center East, where he studied Drafting, 3d Animation and AutoCAD. He is proficient in all phases of CAD design and is responsible for preparing accident scene diagrams and drafting scale models of vehicles. Using these skills, he has also prepared site development plans, road plans, sewer and water plans, and other types of engineering drawing associated with the field of civil and mechanical engineering.
Mr. McCloskey has spent the past 10 years developing proficiencies in demonstrative evidence using AutoCAD 3-D studio as well as Lightwave, and has now prepared over 20 animations and simulations depicting a wide variety of subjects such as vehicular collisions, pedestrian and bicycle accidents, occupant motion during crashes, and construction site accidents. He has written a program that enables direct importation of the paths of colliding vehicles generated from physical simulation programs directly into the 3-D environment.
Mr. McCloskey is also proficient in video analysis and uses programs such as Aura 2.5 and VirtualDub to enable frame by frame examination of accident videos. This was particularly helpful in an accident involving injury to a jockey in a horse race. By analyzing race footage, Mr. McCloskey was able to show a sequence of positions of the rider's anatomy as the horse crashed into a railing. Mr. McCloskey was accepted as an expert in this process and testified in the Superior Court of Delaware.
